Flotsam.

Hello, folks.

I know I’ve been lax with updates these last few weeks. Like always, I’ve been busy with things both writing- and life-related. I’m generally more active on social media these days, although I’ve tried to limit my time there as well. I’ll get to why in a few paragraphs.

First, some news:

The Geeky Writer Gang is having a rare mid-week broadcast tomorrow night at 8 PM EST (October 21st). This will happen just like previous broadcasts, so if you want to participate, join the Facebook event page here. Some of us will probably be in costume of some variety.

My stories & novels are slowly being rolled out to the NOOK platform, as well as Kobo and Scribd. ALT and ULT #1 & #2 are now on sale; ULT #3 follows on this Friday, 10/24; TLM follows on 10/30; and ULT #4 follows on 10/31. Prices will be the same as they are on the Kindle platform.

A new anthology curated by Terry West, titled “Journals of Horror: Found Fiction,” also goes on sale on 10/31, and is currently available for pre-order. It contains my flash fiction story, HUMAN RESOURCES, as
well as the work of Glenn Rolfe, D.S. Ullery, Stuart Keene, and more.

I’m working on a novel. Yes, you read that correctly. A story I started writing a couple of weeks ago surprised me by revealing many links to something I started—and abandoned—years ago. The working title for now is DEVIL’S CREEK, and it centers around a local legend from my hometown of Corbin, Kentucky. Yes, this means NONENTITY is on hold for now. No, I’m not abandoning it—Mr. Candle’s story is very much alive and well. I’m just not ready to write it yet. When I’m ready, I’ll let you know.

Going back to something I mentioned above, if you follow me on social media and I seem distant, I assure you it’s nothing personal. Truth is, I’ve been dealing with some drama behind the scenes related to an upcoming anthology which contains my work. I’m hesitant to say anything else, but I will say this: I will not be promoting it. If you want to read the story that’s in said anthology, I recommend you wait until next year when the exclusivity term has lapsed. The story in question will be released as an ULT once rights revert.

Naturally, all of the bullshit going on behind the scenes has sapped most of my motivation, and for the last several nights I’ve busied myself with catching up on my reading (currently Stephen King’s IT) and playing The Evil Within (which is pretty awesome, by the way). I’ve also been doing a little research into ritual magic, burial practices, and probate law for the aforementioned novel-in-progress. But that’s a conversation for another time.

So yeah, that’s what I’m up to right now.

More soon,

TK
