Recent developments.

Hello, folks. I’m breaking my silence to give you an update on recent TLM developments.

Over the weekend I had a call with editor extraordinaire, Amelia, discussing the “end game” for TLM edits. The call was very productive, concerning changes I plan to make in TLM’s final two chapters and epilogue, as well as Book 3 details such as plot points and theme.

Here’s what I can tell you:

Amelia has completed her pass of TLM edits. Her progress was expedited by the fact that I’m rewriting two large sections in the final chapter, as well as the entire epilogue. This clears the way for me to shut myself off from the world for a few weeks and finish this draft. Right now the plan is to have my changes done by May 20th for my next call with Amelia.

Once we reach that point, draft #3 becomes draft #4. All major plot tweaks and rewrites will be done. All that’s left to be done is a series of conference calls between Amelia and I, during which we will read through the manuscript and discuss any concerns I had over the course of the edits. And after that, I’ll probably read through it at least one more time to catch any typos/weird formatting glitches.

If all goes according to plan, I expect to have the finalized manuscript ready for layout by the end of June. Erica expects to have the cover design ready within the same time frame. Finally, once I know the turnaround time for the digital layout (which will be outsourced), I’ll be able to commit to a release date.

Digital ARCs will be sent out just like last time–that is, in the form of standard PDFs, for blurb and review purposes.  If you are a book blogger who might be interested in reading an early ARC of TLM prior to publication, please contact me ASAP.

I’ll post later on about what the game plan is following TLM’s release. Still working on those details.

For now, I’m going to take a breath and focus my efforts. This is the home stretch. After over three years of work, I can see the end of the tunnel. The light is blinding, brilliant, and terrifying–but I wouldn’t expect it to be any other way.
